The Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre (HRNC)

The Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre (HRNC) was established in April 2010 to support immigration and settlement in rural Saskatchewan.

Operated through the Prairie Innovation Enterprise Region (PIER) under a provincial government contract, the centre was created in response to growing immigration and workforce needs in smaller communities.

Since its opening, HRNC has welcomed newcomers from around the world, working closely with local employers, schools, government agencies, and community partners to help individuals and families successfully settle in Humboldt and surrounding areas. Over time, services expanded to include employment support, school-based settlement programs, and community integration initiatives.

In 2025, the organization’s operational name changed to Prairie Gateway Settlement Services, reflecting its continued growth and evolving regional role.

Today, Prairie Gateway Settlement Services supports hundreds of clients each year, helping newcomers build independence, connect with their communities, and successfully transition to life in rural Saskatchewan. The organization is the only settlement service provider serving central Saskatchewan, playing a vital role in strengthening communities across the region.

Testimonials

So grateful for the help

I am so grateful for the help from Prairie Gateway Settlement Services. I am alone in this country with only my children here after separating from my husband. During a very challenging time, their team provided compassionate support and made me feel welcomed and cared for in my new community. They took the time to listen and helped me understand that I was not alone, guiding me toward services and resources that helped my family move forward. With their support, I was able to continue my English studies, work toward my driver’s licence, connect with important community and professional resources, and find safe housing for my family. Their encouragement and practical assistance helped us build stability and confidence as we adjusted to life in Canada. Even today, they continue to provide guidance as I learn to navigate systems and processes that are new to me. I truly appreciate their kindness, dedication, and ongoing support, and I am deeply thankful for everything they have done for me and my children.
